Values and Ethics
This Code of Ethics is outlined by the values of Feed Well Fridges, and includes the behaviors that guide every decision, partnership, and interaction.
OUR COMMITMENT
Nourishment
We believe everyone deserves food that supports their physical, emotional, and cultural well-being. Nourishment means aspiring to offer fresh, culturally relevant, and nutritious options that honor people’s identities and promote long‑term health.
Compassion
We lead with empathy, kindness, and love in every interaction. Compassion means recognizing the structural forces that shape hunger and responding in ways that affirm people’s humanity rather than blaming individuals for systemic inequities.
Innovation
We challenge and disrupt inequitable food systems by imagining bold, community‑driven alternatives. Innovation means experimenting, learning, and adapting in ways that shift power, expand access, and move us toward a more just and sustainable food future.
Dignity
We honor the inherent worth of every person by ensuring access to food is free from judgment, stigma, or shame. Dignity means recognizing food as a human right and creating spaces where people can meet their needs without surveillance, gatekeeping, or conditionality.
Access
We work to eliminate physical, financial, cultural, and systemic barriers to food. Access means designing food systems that are equitable, inclusive, and responsive to the diverse needs of every neighbor.
Stewardship
We use resources—food, time, funding, and community trust—with intention and transparency. Stewardship means honoring the labor and generosity behind every contribution and committing to sustainable practices that reduce waste and nourish both people and the planet.
Community
We build relationships rooted in mutual care, neighborliness, and shared responsibility. Community means centering the voices and leadership of those most impacted by food insecurity and recognizing that solutions grow strongest when they are created with people, not for them.
Our Vision
To create a model of food recovery and community feeding that can be replicated across North Carolina and beyond, ensuring that abundance is shared, hunger is reduced, and communities thrive together.
